These complex advancements, together with the fact that many of the dangerous wild beasts had disappeared-some had died out, while others had been killed off, made life easier for the Bronze Age people than it had been for their Stone Age antecedents.
The diversification and acquisition of the new skills associated with the production of bronze also influenced the erection of buildings across the country, and the great semi-circu- lar stone fort of Dún Aonghusa ‘Aongus’s Fort’ on the Aran Islands, Cathair na Stéige ‘Staigue’s Fort’ near Sneem in county Kerry, and an Grianán Aileach ‘The Fortress of the Sun’ in county Donegal, all date from the Bronze Age.
